Cast stone is defined as “a refined architectural concrete building unit manufactured to simulate natural cut stone”. The predominance of cast stone in UK construction has mainly been due to the perceived cost effectiveness of cast stone compared to that of natural stone. It is difficult for real stone to compete with pre-cast concrete (cast stone) on price for standard “stock” items – but for the custom made larger items and for larger orders we at Stones of Distinction would like to offer the Cast Stone Challenge. Our white sandstone is NHBC approved and has been fully tested by CERAM Building Technology (one of the UK’s leading materials testing consultancies) and has passed all the necessary British Standards for its use as exterior masonry in all forms – the tests included: BS EN1936, BS EN771-6, BS EN776-1, BS EN12370, BS EN12371, BS EN12372, BS EN12407 & BS EN13755. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to match every cast stone quote – especially for smaller quantity items that cast stone suppliers hold in stock – but for the larger bespoke items or larger orders we are positive we can compete with the cast stone manufacturers.
